DeSoto Central High School
Counseling Department
Welcome to DeSoto Central!
The goal of the DeSoto Central High School Counseling Department is to see all of our students healthy, happy and achieving his/her very best both in and out of the classroom. Our department consists of four counselors that serve our approximately 2,000 students, as well as a Mental Health Therapist, an MSIS Coordinator and a Cohort Clerk. Through various methods, we work with all of our students to help them have a fulfilling high school experience and be ready to take that "next step" after graduation, whatever it may be. We are so excited to work with our students, parents, faculty and community this year!

How do I schedule a meeting with a counselor?
For students, the best way to see your counselor is to go visit her office! Although we love getting to know your parents/guardians, we very much want to foster a direct, personal relationship with YOU. We also want to help you learn to self-advocate as well as grow more comfortable speaking up and seeking out the answers to your questions. Stop by your counselor's office between classes, before school or during lunch, or send her an email/Schoology message if you need to set up a time to have a lengthier discussion. Make sure that you are receiving your counselor's Colony notifications through Schoology so that you never miss any important information! All of our contact information can be found here.
We look forward to seeing you!
For parents/Guardians, we definitely recommend calling or emailing to request an appointment. Because each of the four counselors has very large caseloads and "wears many hats," making an appointment truly is the best way to ensure that your child's counselor can give you her undivided attention. You can find the contact information for each of our counselors here.
If you wish to set up a conference with your child's teacher(s), please contact the teacher(s) directly to arrange a time that best suits his/her schedule and yours.
Finally, if you are seeking make-up work for your child, you may find that on the teacher(s)' websites and email them directly if you have any specific questions.
We look forward to taking this journey with you!
